Carrigan Farms (Mooresville)
If you're looking for the classic fall experience, Carrigan Farms is hard to beat.
You'll find:

- Pick-your-own pumpkins
- Corn maze
- Farm market
- Seasonal treats
- Scarrigan Farms haunted trail for older kids and adults
This makes a great half-day trip, especially if you're already planning a Lake Norman outing.
Hall Family Farm (Monroe)
One of the Charlotte area's most popular fall destinations for families.
Expect:

- Apple cider donuts
- Farm animals
- Slides and play areas
- Perfect photo opportunities
If you have little ones, plan to spend several hours here.
Wise Acres Organic Farm (Indian Trail)
This is one of my favorite recommendations for younger children because it feels less overwhelming than some of the larger farms.

- Open space to run
- Seasonal activities
Reservations are common during pumpkin season, so plan ahead.
Hodges Family Farm (Charlotte)
Want something without leaving Charlotte?

It's an easy afternoon outing if you don't want to spend time driving.
🍎 Apple Picking Worth the Drive
Fall isn't complete without apple picking, and fortunately Charlotte is only a couple of hours from some of North Carolina's best orchards.
Windy Hill Orchard (York, SC)
The closest orchard to Charlotte—and one of my favorites.
Highlights include:
- U-pick apples
- Fresh apple cider donuts
- Hard cider
- Beautiful orchard setting
It's perfect if you don't want to drive all the way to the mountains. It's also a frequent favorite among Charlotte locals.
Sky Top Orchard (Flat Rock)
A true fall tradition.
Families love:

- Apple picking
- Farm animals
- Bamboo forest
- Hot apple cider donuts
Go early if you can—weekends get busy during peak season.
Justus Orchard
If your family is motivated by snacks (mine definitely is), don't skip Justus.
Favorites include:

Jeter Mountain Farm
A newer favorite that's become incredibly popular.
You'll find:

Windy Hill Orchard
Beyond apple picking, Windy Hill is known for its excellent hard cider served right at the orchard.
It's a fun adults-only stop—or pair it with an apple picking trip before heading home.
Tipsy Hare Ciderworks (Kannapolis)
A great option if you want to stay closer to Charlotte.
Expect rotating:

Molley Chomper Hard Cider
If you're already heading toward the mountains for leaf peeping, this cidery makes an excellent stop with unique Appalachian-style hard ciders.
